Cruise Vacations are all about the destination choices. Where can you go on a typical cruise? Hmm...Basically, any place that you can reach by water, you can book through a cruise dealer. So what types of cruises and destinations can you go to? That's a great question! This post will describe some popular areas that many cruise ships go to.
Caribbean Cruises are an abundant choice and are the popular choice for novice cruisers and experts alike. Since Caribbean cruises are so popular, you will have a great chance of meeting a variety of people as well as getting a cheaper discount on rates and paces. Did you know that there are over 7,000 islands in the Caribbean Sea with the majority of them being uninhabited? Being on a Caribbean cruise vacation is a great way to see many ports as you will be stopping at about 6 to 8 ports (roughly) which means that you will probably stop at one port a day (depending on how long you're at sea). These types of cruises are focused on people who want to see a large amount of things in a little amount of time. You will not have that much time to relax at sea because you will be stopping at a different port every day. However, you are an adventurer and want to pack your vacation with as many sites as possible, and then a Caribbean cruise is the way to go. Hopping from island to island does not leave much time for exploring when at the port and focuses more on quantity of destinations, not quality. Many people are frequently tired from their vacation after returning from their cruise as their days are jam packed full of activities. Some popular destinations during a Caribbean cruise are Antigua, Barbados, Domnicia, Martinique, Puerto Rico, St. Croix, St. Kitts, St. Maarten, St. Lucia and St. Thomas. There are also private island cruises within the Caribbean where you can take a day to explore your own private island around the Nassau in the Bahamas. You will be able to have a secluded beach to yourself and a small amount of other people and can enjoy water sport activities and a day of quietness. Be prepared to spend big bucks if you want to to participate on a private island day trip. Everything costs money!
European and Mediterranean cruises are another popular destination because of the exotic locations and reasonable travel prices. People who enjoy these types of cruises are interested in exploring various cities, history, art, culture and ethnic foods. Many people enjoy European cruises because there is so much to experience and very few hassles along the way. If you travel by land, you will have to plan out many more stops and require much more effort than when on a cruise ship. If you do a European cruise, everything is already planned out for you; all you have to do is bring your money and a nice camera. Many popular European cities are along the water and that is the reason why choosing a European cruise is a great way to travel. Many first-time European travelers like to take cruises so that they can experience a variety of cities and countries. Then later, once they know more about the countries, they can travel by land and target their most favorite country. Another positive aspect of taking a cruise to Europe is that it's very cost effective as you do not have to pay for airfare, train tickets, ground transportation, food and hotels. All of your travel is done by water and accommodations are already taken care of! However, if you want to spend more time at your entry port, this is a disadvantage of cruising because taking a European cruise ship means you’re visiting rights are quite hurried.
Alaskan cruise vacations are very popular in the United State because they are easily accessible to many people on the west coast and because you will get to see many more beautiful sites on the water then you would by land. There is a wide range of on shore activities that you can do which include taking seaplane rides, fishing, dog sledding and helicopter tours. You can see glaciers, whales and other marine life right from the comforts of the boat. Alaska cruises are for the more adventurous and not for the faint of heart. The weather can tend to be cold and sometimes unfavorable conditions will determine whether you will have smooth sailing or whether you will have to take a different route.
